There might be a problem with trying to reach it and opening it while flying, but we are talking a desperate situation here. As I understand it the 'biner goes with the harness, so concievably, one could possibly clip on to the corner of the base tube. I wonder if you could somehow reattach the passenger 'biner to anywhere within reach on the hang glider. Not sure that dynamic movement would work very well on a moving, flexing HG bar. I've only done them on the rings, and then only when feeling good. Today I learned there are also bar muscle ups. I suppose I should try that out next time I see a tandem hang gliding simulator set up. Climbing up the pilot's harness lines would be a V0 boulder problem I guess, though the passenger's harness probably adds difficulty. I think you just need OK strength to weight and either some climbing or gymnastics technique. You need exceptionally good power to weight and a honed technique - in calisthenics it’s called a muscle up. Very few people can pull themselves onto a bar without assistance. Posted: Wed 19:18 UTC Post subject: RE: Hang glider Pilot forgets to clip in passenger Shouldn't be required for dual HG flights though! The passenger did extremely well to hang on for over 2 minutes. OK not paragliding, but I got sweaty palms watching this.
